Thank You for Soaring with Us on the International Day of Play!

A huge thank you to all the schools across Scotland who joined us in celebrating the 2nd ever International Day of Play by taking part in our Paper Plane Challenge!

From creative designs to high-flying fun, it was wonderful to see children across the country embracing the spirit of play and imagination. The skies (and classrooms!) were filled with laughter, learning, and a sense of adventure.

We were especially delighted to hear about the fantastic Playful Learning Evening held by Baltasound Junior High School – a brilliant way to involve families and the wider community in celebrating the power of play.

A special shout-out also goes to Eyemouth Primary’s P5–7 classes, who took the opportunity to dream big and design a brand new playground as part of their celebrations. What a fantastic way to put children’s voices at the heart of play and reimagine their space for fun, creativity, and connection.

Eyemouth also hosted a Family day to take part in our paper planes challenge. We loved seeing your paper planes take off – whether they soared across playgrounds or landed in unexpected places!

We love seeing enthusiasm and creativity for play in schools in Scotland. Play has a vital role play in children’s lives. Find out more about bringing play into your school day.

Eyemouth and Baltasound have both taken part in our Play Pedagogy Award Programme. Find out more about how to put play at the centre of learning.

We can’t wait to see how you continue to celebrate and prioritise play in your schools and communities. Keep flying high, and most importantly… keep playing!
