School-aged childcare consultation

FCSS is working with Scottish Government to better understand the supply and demand of school-age childcare in Scotland.

The Why?

This consultation will inform the design and creation of an accessible, affordable, and flexible system of school-age childcare provision in Scotland – a commitment for this parliamentary term.

The consultation aims to understand the school-age childcare landscape; what are children’s and parents’ needs in relation to childcare and activities?

How can I take part?

FCSS have been overwhelmed with interest from families and parents so far, and already have some super useful insight into different communities! That said, the more people that get involved, the better!

There are two ways to respond to the survey.

As a parent, you can fill in the survey here.

If you run a school-aged child care service, you can fill in the survey here.

If you fall into both categories, feel free to complete both!

What will happen to the data?

FCSS aim to improve existing school-age child care offers.

The data will start to paint a picture of the status quo in communities and begin to inform future policy approaches. The ultimate aim is for every family in Scotland to have better access to all the services that exist in their area.
