Play Scotland is delighted to announce that we are organising a Playday event in Aberdeen!
We are inviting local families with children of all ages to join us in Duthie Park, Aberdeen on Wednesday 6 August from 12-4pm to celebrate Playday 2025.
Playday is the national day for play, organised by Play Scotland, Play Board Northern Ireland, Play England, and Play Wales. It is celebrated on the first Wednesday in August with events across the country. The theme this year is ‘Spaces for Play’.
We are so excited to be partnering with many wonderful organisations to make the day as fun and play-filled as possible.
Come along to meet each of the groups and join in the fun, including:
- Aberdeen Park Rangers will be running nature based activities, including butterfly games.
- Aberdeen City Libraries will share stories, songs and rhymes and encourage families to explore all that the library service has to offer
- At Splat Messy Play children learn and develop through unstructured exploratory play. Your child will create, discover and explore at their own pace. Children will explore a mixture of wet activities, dry activities, playdough, paint as well as a take home craft.
- The Peep Learning Together Programme will be bringing fun songs, stories, play activities
- Aberdeen City Council, Creative Learning – Geronimo, using Makedo tools and loads of cardboard, families will team up with artists to create giant games and imaginative worlds.
- ScrapAntics need your help to construct a playground out of loose parts and junk pieces
- There will be free fruit snacks available from CFINE
Feel free to bring a picnic. Don’t forget to bring suncream if the sun is out, and waterproofs if it is not!
There is no need to book, just show up on the day and stay and play for as long as you like!
