Could children diagnosed with ADHD just need better sleep? More youngsters than ever are prescribed drugs for hyperactivity

More children – and adults – than ever are being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Yet many of those may not have the behavioural disorder but could instead be suffering from sleep deprivation, says a leading U.S. doctor. He estimates more than a third of children and a quarter of adults diagnosed with ADHD actually have sleep problems.

Children’s phones blamed for increase in deaths on roads: Sharp increase of youngsters ‘distracted’ by texts and tweets

A boom in smartphone use is being blamed for an alarming rise in the number of children killed and injured on Britain’s roads, a report from AXA Insurance reveals today.

Children crossing the road are ‘distracted’ by texting friends, ‘tweeting’ messages, surfing the internet, playing games or visiting Facebook instead of paying attention to traffic.

Children still being targeted by junk food adverts as companies find a way to sidestep the rules

Junk food manufacturers are still bypassing rules on advertising unhealthy products to children and fueling the UK’s obesity epidemic, a new report has claimed.

The World Health Organisation has called for tighter regulations after it said that attempts to crack down on children being targeted by TV advertising by British regulators have fallen short.
