Playday Events in Scotland

Aberdeen – 6 August

Playday with an event in Union Terrace Gardens 10am – 3.30pm –  loose parts play, messy play, face painting and a bouncy castle.  The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome.

Coatbridge – 6 August

Parent Action for Safe Play, 12.00 to 4.00pm at Coatbridge, Make a bogie/billy cart / Inflatables / cooking with fire / creative arts, water slide, pools and muddy pits – ‘make a noise for play’

Dundee – Play on Wheels – 6 August

10am-12pm Play on Wheels will be at the Under 12s Project near Douglas and it is open for everyone (Mauchline Ave, Dundee, DD4 8HT). Then in the afternoon (3pm-5pm) they will move to Roseangle, which is a local community playground (down near the waterfront, Magdalen Green) and this is also an open session. At both of these session the theme for Play on Wheels will be traditional games.

East Ayrshire – 6 August

Kay Park, Kilmarnock, from 11.00am – 3.00pm.

Children and families can take part in all types and aspects of play through an abundance of activities such as canoeing, mud / water slides, gunge pools, lazer quest, crate climbing, den building, face painting, inflatable’s, quad bikes, rodeo bull, owl magic, sumo suits and a climbing wall…….just to name a few.  There will also be the fantastic opportunity to take part in numerous sports taster sessions within the Commonwealth Zone delivered from local sports clubs across East Ayrshire to celebrate the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Last year’s event attracted over 9,000 participants, making it one of the country’s busiest events and the best thing of all is that all activities are FREE!

Play on Wheels will be involved in a play celebration in Glenrothes at Riverside Park from 12pm-3pm. The theme for Play on Wheels will be traditional games and this is a public event.

20 children aged 5-13 will be participating in free play and active play sessions involving footballing and athletics skills and a mini awards ceremony event.  The venue is a local blaze pitch near Avenue park street near Maryhill Mobile Crèche’s office.

PEEK are providing a showing of the film ‘Project Wildthing’ on Wednesday 6th of August at 6pm at The Bridge in Easterhouse.  This is in partnership with Seven Lochs and TCV.  They are also running street play sessions with an emphasis on nature across all of their Go2play sites from 2pm – 5pm.
